The flaming geniuses are a really important group of people in my life. They started out as a Mastermind group, but have become so, so much more. Together, the active members of the flaming geniuses behave like a centrifuge, pulling out and concentrating the best in each of us, then nourishing it until it is strong enough to flourish on its own.

We live all over the place, and we meet and talk via our Ning group and Skype and phone conference calling.

We are fluid in membership, but our core is systematic and strong. We take care of each other and help each other learn to take care of ourselves.

The flaming geniuses started a few years after I met divalion, otherwise known as Rebecca. Sometimes when I meet or really see a person, I can tell immediately that they are going to be important to me.

No, that's not true. Sometimes when I meet a woman, I can tell that she is going to be very important in my life---that she has something vital for me. I don't know how I know. I just know, somehow. It might be years till I figure it out.

But with men I hardly ever know who is going to be really important. I cannot see them or grasp what's happening for a long time, and then suddenly, it's a surprise.

But for women, I usually know.

Anyway, I saw diva, and I knew she was going to be really important. I thought about it on and off for months, and finally I just called her and explained exactly what I was experiencing.

She did not think I was crazy.

After several conversations, I began to figure it out. She had important skills to teach me---things I needed that I couldn't do alone. Eventually, I asked her to please help me create a Mastermind group, and she said no.

She is not stupid.

I am rarely drawn to stupid people. She could see this would be a lot of work, and she was quite busy, so she very kindly said no.

Three days later, I got an invitation to the flaming geniuses, and that group has changed my life.

See, I am never wrong when I get that sense that someone is important.

It may take time to fully manifest, and there may be twists and turns in the path. But always, they turn out to hold a gem that I cannot access for myself, and that they, and only they, can give me.

And that is the story of the flaming geniuses.
