I don't care about this.

Well, I did get to see Pema Chodron speak close up, and if I met her, I would care about that.

Otherwise, no.

I generally only actually care about meeting celebrities who I personally think do awesome work in whatever art form (music, acting, writing, etc.) they do. The other stuff, well, it's stories to tell. I don't really care about the people just because they're famous.

Well, OK, I would probably care about meeting Kate Bush.

Well, does soon-to-be-famous count? Because I know this author who's going to win prizes for her book...

Setting aside the rose-colored glasses, my mother lives in a part of Los Angeles where one can have occasional celebrity encounters. I guess the one I remember most clearly is Cher.

How do you define "famous"? Trust me, I know of people who are are well known to a wide range of people, and others who are *really* well known by a lot of people, and others have no clue who they are. A personal favorite example lately is Neil Gaiman, who seems to be really well known, so I was surprised by how many academics, librarians, and literati who have no idea who he is (and no, I've never met the man).
