Something good: one of my colleagues who teaches in NYC texted to tell me he has adopted my book for his class, and he thinks it's perfect for his students. He said it was an excellent ethnography.

Really happy.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] evcelt, your review rocks. It just rocks!

Edgar's words, stored here so I can reread when I am temporarily discouraged:

"My sister, do not doubt the power of your words, thoughts, and witness. Your book's power is illuminated by them".

Grateful to you, Edgar.

Do you know how much in awe of your accomplishment I am? To have written a book, gotten it published, and then to have someone actually use it to help others? Ah, woman, you are mighty!

And very loved. :)

That is great news!

And my review couldn't have rocked unless your book rocked even harder.

That's it, I've decided:

[livejournal.com profile] sabrinamari, you are totally metal.

::throws you the horns::

[livejournal.com profile] evcelt, I do not understand "totally metal". I may be missing a reference here. All I can think of is the Chinese Element system, in which I long for metal/metal helps me, but am sadly metal-free much of the time. : )

Explain???

Like many things I find myself saying, it's hard to define. ;-)

It's a music reference, riffing (another music reference) on your use of "rocks". It means you rock most awesomely.

I honestly hadn't considered the Chinese Element system at all until you mentioned it.

Cool pic.

I think this has to do with the hand motion that guy is making in the photo?

I will consult with Shannon, my dear friend and ex-roommate who used to explain all this kind of stuff to me. She had a full life outside of the library. Wait, Michael will probably know.

Thank you anyway, honey.

That's what Michael said. But he could not articulate the exact connection. : )
