About a year ago LJ put out a Writer's Block question I enjoyed a lot. It asked writers to come up with their "life sentence"---a sentence of six words that summed up the point and purpose of their lives.

Some of the answers were wonderful. They were just fun to read and think about. I listed some of my favorites here:

http://sabrinamari.livejournal.com/507680.html

The newer ones are also a pleasure to read---you can get to them by clicking on the "View 2158 Answers" link at the bottom of that Writer's Block question.

Over Beltane, I spent some time hanging out on Christine's bed with a random assortment of people, snuggling and having deep conversations. For some reason, I started asking my friends about their own life sentences, and Christine came up with her particular, very beautiful sentence, which I can't exactly remember (she has reminded me, thankfully: "To live in integrity with love").

[livejournal.com profile] otterdancing still owes me hers. Hint.

Yesterday, Michael realized that [livejournal.com profile] jasminewind had given him his a couple of years ago: "I like to stir the pot". Perfect, no?

I still like mine, and I think it still applies: "Life of joy---spreading it outwards," but now I think I can make it even more specific: "Bringing abundance to those I love".

What about yours? What's your life sentence? If you articulated it last year, has it changed?

Based on the reactions of people around me, my six words might be "Shut up, Bill. We didn't ask."

However, I'll go with: "Trying to learn; trying to teach."

Nice.

laughing about the first one tho. As queen of awkward, mine might be, "Did you really just do/say that?" or "What the f--- are you doing?"

Alright, having fun with this now.

At times like this, I wish LJ had FB's "like" option. Not for it applying to you, but to me! :)

That was pretty special. It is good to see you occasionally relax from your restrained "compassionate communication" style and just tell it like it is! I love you very, very much. And, the issue in question got talked about last night.

I love it! That probably applies to me in school, as well. On the bright side, I do tend to give back in ebullience. :)

Living joyfully in balance and moderation. There's a few words in German that fit better than moderate one is Genuegsam best translated as Enoughish. Living with what you need and finding joy in the simplicity that's what I want out of life. Of course Evil Eva's would be "Ohhhh that's pretty, can I have it" ;-)

Mine was "I help others sing their songs." It came back to me about two weeks ago, when someone from the congregation came up to me and said that she really liked to sit close to me so she could hear me sing---it helped her to sing along and feel the music. Very literal example, but it brought home that not everything has to have *DEEP EMOTIONAL IMPACT* to have real meaning---this is a person who just wanted to sing, and because I was singing, she felt like she could do it, too. I helped her, literally, sing her song. Every time I can help someone do something, feel something, just be themselves without all the extraneous garbage, I help them to sing their song. What more could I ask?

Better wisdom through accepting life changes.

I am a well balanced equation.

Changing underwear faster than informed opinions.

I'm not a place to pee.

Enjoy yourself. I know I do.

Hailing Eris from an underwater trunk.

Once, twice, three times you're Stacy.

Leg humping does not equal appreciation.

Fondling your gondola with my granola.

Such a waste of mental promiscuity.

I love all the humorous comments!

I read the post initially and then scrolled through to read the next one and felt compelled to come back.

Becoming the Change

Like many people, I really like the quote about becoming the change you want to see in the world. When I first started this journal, it's what I called it "Becoming the Change"

For as much as I am the eternal earth sign and setting in stagnation, I am changing and growing and evolving. I am identifying the things that I can do better, be better at, and more. Sometimes I don't see the changes day to day, but I can look back and realize how different I have become.

I like who I am becoming.

My other life sentence...

Some days, I'm brilliant. Some days, I'm an idiot.

There really doesn't seem to be much of a middle road. I am either really on it and getting praise heaped upon me or I'm way off and getting my ass chewed for it.

You also might want to refer people to these other past links in your LJ:

Regarding Your Personal Mission Statement: Have an Update?

and, before that:

What's Your Personal Mission Statement?

Even though there hadn't been a 6-word challenge in those posts, I made it anyway, with:

"I feed therefore I am."

I'd say that that still applies, and that I'm living that goal fairly well these days. :)

Christine---yay! I'm so glad you're here! Of course you made it into my journal. I love you, and think about what you inspire in me often. I hope you can get LJ to cooperate soon. It's been having issues with the navigation bar and in general lately.

Your life sentence is delicious!
