This week has been sad and glorious. I have grown as a person, and I'm still grappling with everything I've learned.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] catpaw67, [livejournal.com profile] ludditeauthor, [livejournal.com profile] mage_imbroglio and I facilitated a tiny cremation service for Isaac, Phaedra and a few family members. It was so beautiful that it almost broke my heart. I am grateful that we were able to witness the passing of a truly great man and act as his honor guard!

While I am honored, I am also rather shocked that the task fell to us, and that we were entrusted with the care of Phaedra's lovely, kind heart in these fragile moments. Part of me asks, "Who are we that this should be so?"

I think the answer is this: we are representatives of a tremendous number of people who are grateful to Isaac and Phaedra, and whose lives have been graced---and shaped---by their work.

Blessed Be.

I'm glad people as awesome as you were there to do this service for the family and for everyone who honored and respected Isaac.

It's miraculous that Isaac's rites were facilitated by like-minded people. How many people are handed over to non-pagan families for burial after a living a pagan life?

Thank the gods for Michael Brown, his calling, and his service! We need him.

PS - Do you think Phaedra would like to wear a tiny bit of Isaac's ashes in a glass bead close to her heart? I would ba happy to make one for her, as a gift.

Yes, I think she might be interested in a bead. You should write to her!

I too am grateful for what you were able to offer to Phae and her family.

I was seriously torn about whether I should be there. I finally decided that not every moment of Isaac's journey could be part of mine; others needed their time and place and privacy.

You ask "Who are we that this should be so?" I will share another answer: We are clergy. This is what we do.

Who are you? You have gone through this yourself, through your own loss. In that, G was your teacher -- and now you are a shepherd and guide. I have no doubt that you did right by I and P and their family. I find myself in a similar position from time to time, mostly at work.

Thank you for sharing this, and for being there for them.

You are an agent of transformation. Death is just a door to another life---an awesome transformation. The butterfly of the soul emerged from the chrysalis of the body and flew to a new home.

You were midwife, comforter, counselor, friend, witness. You engender trust and love, and so you are privileged to be present at these times. It is who and what you are.

Much love to you today.

Thank you

You are definitely most very worthy of this honor, and I'm glad you could be there.
