A Life Without Debt: 10 Things That Make Being Debt Free Possible

This is an extremely smart article. I wish I had learned these principles as a kid, but I find myself putting most of them to good use now. And frankly, living this way isn't much of a sacrifice. Very occasionally, I splurge and get something pricey that I really want using cash (a piece of art, an expensive skirt or kilt, a fancy pedometer). When I do, I keep it it in good shape and use it/treasure it forever. Still, the vast majority of the time, I'm pretty frugal.
The payoff is priceless: little or no financial stress, zero money bickering, and joys that revolve around love, good friends, good hobbies and good work.
But best of all, frugality as a way of life brings freedom: freedom from choices I despise and freedom to pursue what really matters.
It's totally worth the things I've given up: new cars, new toys, fancy digs, new wardrobes and frequent vacations.
I can't say that it's really much of a sacrifice.
