"Blue Star Wicca and Friends" is reaching further and further across the globe, planting seeds of independence and prosperity wherever it goes. We have 30 members plus at least three non-member donors.

We've made a total of 63 loans---that's a $1575 grassroots global stimulus, guaranteed to reach working men and women who can put it to use immediately.

Check out our progress here: http://www.kiva.org/community/viewTeam?team_id=7406

There's also a happy surprise on the horizon: a very generous donor is in the process of making a large KIVA donation through a KIVA gift certificate to me.

If I were to convene a party to help me distribute the funds, who might be interested in attending? It would probably be held on either a weeknight or a Friday night. I would provide a main dish, apps and dessert.

Activities

* Feast, visit, laugh and talk. Giggle occasionally.

* Screen Small Fortunes, a 60-minute documentary on microlending (see a clip at http://www.pbs.org/kbyu/smallfortunes/ )

* Create a strategy and use it to select a large number of loanees (no money required; we'll use the donor's contribution)

Interested?

Of course I'm interested. But, I live too far away. Bill and I are still hoping to make a donation. We're waiting until things settle down and we'll know if we really will have ANY extra after all the bills are paid. I feel like we're being tested to see if we really learned how to manage our finances.

You don't need extra money to do this with me. You and Bill don't even need to be here, actually. You can look at the KIVA website site from there and suggest some loanees. If you want, we can call you or you can Skype in on the evening we get together.

And I totally support you in wanting to manage your finances carefully and wisely, now and always. I understand that you must meet your obligations and make wise home-based financial decisions before donating.

Yay! I'll need help. We may have quite a few loans to select. We'll make delectable artichokes. :)

Cool. I'm also realizing that folks can call in or Skype in and help make decisions, as I pointed out to ingridsummers. This is an option as well.

Have fun! If I could come, I would love to...but I live in MN, so it's unlikely at best for the near future.

May I ask that you keep in mind handicrafts and/or shepherds as potential loanees?

That would just ROCK!

Have fun! Again. :)

Ate these your top criteria? I will put them on the list. :)

Well...as an obsessed fiber nerd and kitchen witch, I would like to help people who produce or work with fiber make a living, and hopefully be successful. :) At least some of my loans have been working to that end.

And while I haven't loaned exclusively to women, I do like supporting woman owned businesses.

When a date/time is set for the discussion, please let me know and send me a number and perhaps I can call in and participate.
