If you haven't yet watched "Blink", Dr. Who, Season 3, Episode 11, just do it.

It is completely free standing and utterly brilliant. You don't need any background going in.

It will not break your heart, but it will scare the living s#$% out of you.

You can stream it straight from Netflix.

Do not watch it before bed.

I actually had to sleep with a nightlight on for TWO nights.

It is one of the best Dr. Who episodes I've seen. (The Girl in the Fireplace is also awesome)! I can't watch it a second time, though.

I had to rewatch it to "pull its teeth". If I watch a really scary thing once, it retains the power to haunt me. If I watch it again, I remember being calmer as I see each (expected) scene again, and it loses some of its power over me.

This is a good one, but I have always had a weakness for "Genesis of the Daleks." Despite attempts to drag it down by adding sequels, it still holds up. I became a Dr. Who fan forever when I saw Tom Baker debating whether it was morally right to destroy any race, even a totally evil one.

It's one of the episodes that gives me confidence in the new series - if Steven Moffatt is the head writer, it must be good :D

It freaked me out as an adult. It would have given me insomnia for weeks if I had seen it as a child.

it is one of the more brilliant ones, The two parter from the first series "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" is one of the creepier ones as well, but it does introduce Capt Jack for the first time.
