Welcome, Mr. President

We are weeping with joy.
AM Edit: I woke up and still can't believe it.
It's a morning of happiness and stunned disbelief.
I also feel peaceful and good about John McCain: his concession speech was the most graceful and sincere concession I've ever seen. I do believe that the Republican candidate is at core a man of honor, even though I disagree with many of his policies. Still, I find myself welcoming his continued participation in our political system. I am hoping for a more respectful, coalition-style government.
McCain did well last night.
I'm also delighted with Barak's acceptance speech: I count many Republicans among my dear friends and respect their voices as much as I love their friendship. I want a country where they are heard and respected, not shut out of the political process. He made it clear that he wants that too.
The Republican party is remarkably diverse and full of many good people. We need those people---and all the Independents, too---and I want to see Obama and all our Democrats work closely with them.
