I will be calling my parents a couple of times tonight; they're in Stillwater, Oklahoma, out of the biggest current warning zone, but I'm worried. Take care of yourselves tonight, everyone.

One of my favorite songs...

I didn't realize they were in Stillwater. I've been there a few times. I had a few friends at OSU while I was in OK. Then there were the SCA events nearby (I can't remember the name of the campground), and, to round out the experience, the outings to Eskimo Joe's.

I will think protective thoughts for that area.

Eskimo Joe's...wow, I didn't know anyone else on my friend's list, other than my brother and maybe eoma_p, would know about that cultural icon. That's wonderful.

I remember SCA events in Norman at the duck pond, but I'm not sure where they were held near OSU.

I recently introduced Michael to that fine example of Oklahoma haute cuisine, "Chili con Queso". That's the recipe where you combine a block of Velveeta and with a can of Ro*tel Tomatoes and Green Chilies in the microwave:

My Oklahoma-born friend eoma_p, lady_daegonna's mom, made it for us when we visited last. It was so nice and nostalgic.

I used to love that stuff as a kid.

Michael was well and truly horrified by it. But it reminded me of home, so it made me happy.

I can't get Ro*tel up here at all.

The sky was greeny-black and dark as 10pm outside my office building around 4:00 today. I suspect I'll need someone to pick me up from the train station tonight. :-)
