It's a bit better
Jan. 22nd, 2007 03:05 pmI started using my SAD light again in the evening again a week and a half ago. This has helped immensely. Things are looking up a bit.
My honey Michael is a big boost everyday, even when he is sad or sick. He is the most productive and active sick person that I know. Time with Trent is good, too. He is the most amazing person!
Our household may be transitioning out of illness and the sadness is lightening up a little bit.
I wrote almost 20 hours last week, fleshing out the 'Agency Management' chapter in a very exciting way. I'm way into the book now. I've also done some expensive maintenance to my vehicle, finally, and feel alot of relief about that---I want to drive it for the next decade.
We've put away Yule/Christmas and are back to unpacking: we started unpacking my books and CDs yesterday in between Michael's boughts of sleepy illness recovery and my typing sessions.
I figured out that my plan to save the big bucks this year appears to be working. When the fellowship ends next January, I need to be able to have a year's worth of living expenses readily available to me---medical anthropologists can't necessarily find good local jobs fast. Fortunately, I am able to do this. I've set up big honkin' monthly automatic transfers into a high-yield savings account and as long as I am Senorita Frugal, I will succeed. There are big fiscal advantages to living in small, cost-effective space.
I've funded my 2006 and 2007 Roth accounts already and had tremendous fun doing it. I bought a Morningstar membership a few weeks ago and I'm using the site membership as the basis for my extended independent study of investing, managing retirement accounts and making money multiply. Unexpectedly, I am having a blast. Who knew that learning all about portfolios, mutual funds and the stock market was fun?
A couple of weeks ago Michael woke up and told me a fun dream in which he was driving around with a cute girl. I told him about my fun dream about dollar cost investing. He laughed and laughed, hugged me really tight and told me how much he loved me. Yum.
Also, Michael got so excited when he saw the compilation CDs Patrick (
seedmoon) made me and the title of my brother
somacandra's master's thesis---he saw a bunch of the bands on the CD live in Germany, and he's a big ceremonial magic/history of ceremonial magic fan, so he was literally gleeful at both discoveries. I love when my man is delighted and excited about other people I love. It's so cool.
My life is good.

Date: 2007-01-23 08:22 pm (UTC)Maybe when the world calms down, you can help me learn more about finances and investing. It's something I have to get serious about soon, but right now I've got enough on my plate.
