Loved the slug party at Patrick's and feel much better about life after laughing so much.

Yesterday wasn't as diss productive as I'd hoped; it was more about contemplation and processing. But that's cool.

The tomatos are are HUGE...really huge. Much taller than I am. The spinach is also huge, but still tender, and thank the gods that most of the lettuce did not come up. I'd be awash in organic lettuce. I have a ton of cilantro, a ton of Swiss chard, and according to the books, my blossoming potato plants indicate that I can now reach down and harvest some tubers. I just can't seem to lure any of my local friends over to help me harvest it and share in the goodies(hint, hint).

Wow. I had no idea that horticulture meant gigantic plants. It's all about staking, and supporting these lovely giants. What am I gonna do with all this organic produce? I am too successful for my own good and I just have to eat more vegetables every day or I will drown in produce. It's a good kind of problem to have, though. I need to get Ken to bring home the digital camera so can take some photos of humongous organically grown container plants and post them somewhere.

In other news, Ken will be going to Iceland next month. He'll be doing a photo excursion/seminar with 2 of the world's most well known large format art photographers. He came home unsure of whether or not go and I said,"If you do not go, you ae crazy. What are you waiting for? call them back and book it immediately!" When world class artist/teachers of the genre you love offer to take you to Iceland with them to take museum-quality photos, you say yes.

Fortunately, he is saying yes. And I think he is gonna be a really happy man in a few years. It's the best possible thing.

OK, off to a conference I care very little about. Damn, I want to stay home, garden and write.

That does sound wonderful :) Problem with the produce-picking has been our lack of firm plans. I actually didn't sleep at all last night, so I'm wary of driving, as I'm very of-kilter; can I come over tomorrow?

I know, I'm pretty excited. I've already asked for glacier water, glacier-transported soil and gravel and any heathen items he comes across while traveling. Plus, he'll take some awesome photos.

I am pretty lucky these days. You will be happy to know that I am about to fax Madhini with a list of 25 oils for sampling (that was the limit they imposed). Finally, we will be moving on this project. I tend to get behind on things without some friendly poking. Feel free to poke away. I am Ms. Overcommittment, so it's pretty much necessary for all my collaborators. Fortunately, you are an especially graceful poker. : )

Ah! Here you are!

Glad to hear Ken said yes to Iceland - WOW what a trip he's going to have - and so much to share when he gets back.

Wish I had your gardening troubles, Sabrina - looks like I've been feeding a vole or two up here - my butter lettuce starts have all disappeared, and only half of my carrots are left - oh well, they probably need it more than I - looks like it'll be a summer of raspberries and strawberries, if the magpies don't eat those up!

I'm so happy for him!

Boy, I wish I had your berries---love'em. Sadly, I have lots of bushy strawberry plant and no berries.

And it looks like my tall tomatos have some kind of fungus on the lower leaves. It's neem and copper sulfate for me!

love you, dear... : )

Glad to see you, sweetheart. And its good to know you've been thinking about us. I have too. And by the looks of it several other people I know from there are on too--I think I see Tom and Cat, although I'm not sure. The LJ icon is priceless, is that Luna you're holding with Chichen Itza behind you?

BTW, Mom and Dad called me today. They've come back safely to a huge harvest as well. Tomatoes and squash in particular, and also a slew of blackberries. Dad's grinning from ear to ear--eating tomatoes as fast as he can pick them :-)

And Iceland--I'm envious. Always wanted to go.

Smiling---I'm happy to read your voice. Lots is changing here and many new futures are opening up as possibilities, encouraging me to think about us, the past, the future, and where I want to go next with you and all of the people I love. Of course, you have been on my mind for awhile.

I'm glad mom and dad are back safe. Wish I had some of those blackberries! I can't wait to show off my garden to dad when he visits in August. I've learned alot about container gardening since last year when he and mom visited and watched me plant a slew of cherry tomato plants very late in the season into 4-inch windowboxes. I failed to grasp that tomatos are actually more like trees than flowers during that period (laughing!).

The avatar is cool. Cat helped me make it. That is indeed Luna and I am standing in front of Chichen Itza just as you thought.

Cat, Liam, Tom and Karen are all here. So are alot of other very cool people. Check out wild_place_king's photo (on my friend's list). He is wonderful; you'd love him---and his photo hints at the treasures he has to offer.

I'd love to see what workshops ou are offering at Starwood sometime. It would be cool.

love,

Sabri

Wonderful. With some time I'll figure out who's who :-)

Actually, my workshops didn't make the final cut this year. But several friends of mine, including the minister for my wedding, [livejournal.com profile] herne_in_ak, and [livejournal.com profile] j_daddy are giving what promise to be fantastic workshops. I'll be trying to get interviews with some people and doing other things instead. So its all good :-)

Cool---you'll be focused on data collection anyway. Following humans and getting them to talk to you, especially when there are many exciting competeing events, is a labor intensive effort. : ) Need any recording devices?

Nope. I sank money into a brand new 12'' Powerbook G4 Macintosh, and a USB microphone that holds itself up. In fact, you can see the setup here if you scroll down the webpage:

http://www.macmice.com/micflex.html

The Powerbook comes with music/sound editing software (GarageBand) that I can use to record digital interviews and then burn CD copies of them in the field for my informants, so they can be assured of what we both know they said.

It a bit of money, but it will allow me get music samples and interviews I would otherwise not be able to get through live digital recording.

Speaking of which, I'll be needing to digitally interview you sometime as well :-) Perhaps if there is time when I next visit?
