Karen is gone

Karen and Tom just got into their car to leave. I will miss them so very, very much.

First Dorothy left, then Lisa, and now Karen. It's only Sarah and me, and Dan, from the old guard. And Cat and George and me.

Soon it will just be Cat and George and me, when Sarah and Dan are ready to move.

I hate this so much.

I know I'm not losing them, but it feels that way. a little bit.

I hate letting them go and moving on.

Oh, you don't get rid of us that easily, madam. Nor you others. Oh, no you don't! Not only shall I harrass you all by email and LJ, but you need to get Skype so I can harrass you via voip. And you will all be coming to stay, and we will be coming over on holiday. And so, damnit, you do not get to shake us off any more than if we'd moved to another state, so think on. Because technology means I can be just as irritating as ever, so there.

Though I think I may hit the wall on this whole not-being-around-my-old-friends thing in a few weeks when the adrenaline and novelty value of the move wear off.

It _is_ a cold feeling. Things simply do not remain the same. Any one of us could receive a message, or come to a conclusion, that can only be put off for so long.

...Sarah & Dan hadn't mentioned moving...is this something real, or a worst case scenario for you?

FYI, I'm back in Jersey and I've got a whole flock with me (husband, 2 kids, 2 cats) and a backyard that is Sandy Hook... if you feel lonely you're always welcome to pop in. I hope to throw at least one summer shindig this year now that my house is looking more like a home.
