Tracy, Eileen and any local folk who want to explore shamatha ('peaceful abiding') meditation are welcome to come with me. It will be an..."open discussion of any questions anyone may have," or a "Dharma dialogue". I have been planning to go back to these free Thursday meditation classes since yesterday, and I just received the email about the Dharma Dialogue today.

If you want to come, you need to either 1.) check out the Shambhala meditation website and get directions at http://www.princeton.shambhala.org or 2.) meet me here at the apartment at 6:15.

Dear Friends of the Princeton Shambhala Meditation Group:

As many of you know, we have been presenting a highly structured series of Thursday night classes, and had a first "exam" in that class series last Thursday night. The calendar you received earlier this month (also posted on our Web site) reflects the ongoing syllabus of that Thursday class, and many of you may expect the class to continue this Thursday night.

But this week we're doing something different: a session called a "Dharma dialogue," in which we'll have an open discussion of any questions anyone may have. We may spend the first few minutes talking about the previous week's exam, and certainly questions related to it are welcome--but we also hope this session will offer an opportunity for anyone to ask questions about *any* subject related to Dharma teachings and practice.

There's no question "too basic," and everyone is welcome, whether you've participated in the recent Thursday classes or not. Please join us! As usual, we'll start at 7:30 in our regular meeting place, 291 Witherspoon, Princeton.

Yours in the Dharma,
Trime, Michael, and Beverly

P.S. Next Thursday (3/30) we will practice the sadhana (a meditation practice involving recitation and visualization) of Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. All are welcome, whether you've been introduced to this practice or not. The following Thursday, April 6, we'll get back on track with the class syllabus as we turn our attention to the Hinayana in a unit titled "The Paths of Individual Liberation."

Note: Ani Trime, one of the teachers at this group, is an 80-year old Buddhist nun who likes motorcycles, dogs and studied/studies alongside Pema Chodron. The group meets on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, costs nothing, pressures no one for regular attendance and offers top-notch classes. This is the Buddhist equivalent of one of Starhawk's experienced peers offering free, no-pressure Craft/Priest/essing classes based on the Reclaiming Tradition.

I have dinner plans with a friend on Thursday night, but if you plan on making next Thursday also, please let me know and I can make sure to schedule around it.

I think I can do this, if I am diligent till then, but I cannot promise to come up with genius questions.

Wait a second, my hope was to re-start meditative practice, as opposed to observing a Q&A. Will there be any time for that?
