The cookery contest will resume on Monday, October 24th. I will be available to pick up entrees in the Summit/Berkely heights area for transport to Turtle Hill on Sunday, October 23. Folks can drop entrees off to me on Monday, Oct 24th and I will head out to Turtle Hill either Monday night or sometime Tuesday.

Most of the TH crew will probably be back home by Monday. They will doubtless be looking for food options easily accessible to exhausted people.

I have collected the ratings for all of the food submitted and eaten thus far and will begin again with the new round of entrees and foods submitted starting next week.

The lucky winner will enjoy a fall dinner at The Ryland Inn, and the two closest runner-ups will get some delicious prize, yet to be determined, as well.

Thank you to everyone who has participated thus far and is participating next week and beyond!

Can contestants place entries in the freezer at Samhain?
Are dishes being judged on taste alone?
Are the judges considering other criteria, such as nutritional value, side dishes, presentation? Baked brie may be yummy, but it's not a meal without a vegetable.
Is it possible to forward feedback to the contestants? I find constructive criticism very valuable.
If I want to bribe the judges, to whom do I make out my check?

(grin)

"Can contestants place entries in the freezer at Samhain?"

Yes! Please bring your dishes to Samhain for the TH freezer.

"Are dishes being judged on taste alone?"

No. Also creativity and ease of reheating/quality after reheating (the latter essentially being that answer to the question, "Did this dish both freeze and reheat well?".

"Are the judges considering other criteria, such as nutritional value, side dishes, presentation?"

Side dishes are welcomed and part of the contest as well. Nutritional value is assumed and the judges are too exhausted to think much about presentation, although good presentation might cheer them up some.

"Is it possible to forward feedback to the contestants? I find constructive criticism very valuable."

Yes. I do have that information, and if poked a few times, will get it out to contestants upon my return.

"If I want to bribe the judges, to whom do I make out my check?"

Bribes are being accepted in the form of neck, foot and backrubs, and are to be given to me. Me. That would be...me. Oh, wait, was that my outside voice? Sorry---just a little narcissism problem, there.

LOL!

Would it be possible one evening to descend upon TH, cook food, serve food, clean up and depart quietly and unobtrusively? I'm thinking like B* and friends catering service. I don't want to intrude on their lives, so I'm thinking we could swoop in, make a meal, depart to the Inn of the Hawke for dinner ourselves, then swoop back in and clean up and leave quietly.

What do you think?
