This week will be devoted to organizing the food production and delivery process and starting up the contest. Geo goes into treatment August 1, so our goals will be to 1.) have a couple of meals ready to go at Turtle Hill by that day, and 2.) keep them flowing so that for every dinnertime over the treatment period and immediately after, there is an evening meal in the refrigerator or deep freeze ready to go as needed.

I was busy all day Monday (in Summit in the am, then working both jobs, one after the other, till 10:45 at night, and then on a long phone call), so I could not work on organizing the contest or return phone calls at all yesterday. However, I will be hopping online at various times today, calling people back as I drive between work sites in the early afternoon. I will assign letters to participants tonight, if not earlier, and consult with Cat about drop-off strategies and times later today/this evening. I will also ask Geo if there are foods that he especially likes---a great idea, [livejournal.com profile] jeneralist!

Thanks for wanting to participate, dear ones! This will be fun, and we all probably get to enjoy the ongoing side benefits of new cooking inspirations for many Sabbats to come.

EDIT: If you are coming to Turtle Hill on Sunday, and want to enter the contest/provide a Week 1 meal, please email me or call my cell phone after 12:30 telling me so today. I will be at TH on Sunday and can acquire your entry from your car and bring it in myself (to ensure that each dish is anonymously presented). I can also potentially pick up your meal for delivery on Sunday if you are not planning to come.

Additionally, I will bring contest evaluation forms to TH on Sunday for the expert panel of judges (Cat, Geo and Liam) so that they can start eating and evaluating each entry on Monday, as scheduled.

I'm hoping to work on a schedule with Cat this weekend where I'll be going up there a couple nights a week and helping with dinners and taking care of Geo too. So you may not need to provide a contest meal for every night.

(And in all honesty, I'm still holding out hope that he'll be feeling well enough to be able to still come over my house occasionally while he's in treatment. And I know from our conversations he's hoping for this as well!)

Have you talked to him about the schedule for Thursday? And if you get a chance drop me a line or give me a call.

Let's keep in close contact so that I know in advance when we need more meals and when you will be helping out in the kitchen. We can do some advance planning on a week-by-week basis, with a little luck.

I'll need something a little later on---unless I come up that way the first weekend in August. Is there a circle that weekend? After that, I won't be driving for a while since I'm having eye surgery.

This is so much fun---gives me something to do with food---I like to be creative! Would it also be all right if I baked some accompaniments and dessert-type stuff and froze it---not for the contest, but just for accompaniments and extras? I don't care if they are donated anonymously--I'd just like to help out.

Later on is no problem. We're looking at 7 weeks of contest time. I don't *think* there is a circle the first week of August---I'll check and let you know for sure.

PLEASE DO bake all that you want---we will stack it away in the TH freezer so that the family can have a few yummy treats to get them through the really challenging days. Thank you for being so willing to help. I don't see why they can't be folded into the contest. I'll probably make some goodies too, so anonymity can be preserved.

Thank you, dear one. Maybe you and I can scan some of your cookbooks together and choose a recipe or two? Coverage may be a little light for the first week, so help is especially needed then.

Is there anyway Pat and I can help? We can't really make and send food, but maybe we could sponsor someone? Either way, this is a great idea that you all have come up with.

Can you do some recipe research? Finding enough potential meals that fit the criteria *and* freeze well may be a little challenging. If you had a chance to surf around/look around and find some good candidates, that would be a great help to some of the busier potential cooks down here.

This is so cool! I will have to remember the contest idea next time we have a need of feeding someone around here. I wish I lived there too. It would be a fun foodie challenge... (sigh)... I would be willing to do recipe research though. Could I maybe just post them to LJ somehow?

That would be awesome. We are wracking our brains for ideas. Geo likes full fat foods, and he is going to need lots of calories to maintain his body weight over the coming weeks. Protein might help, too.

Any recipes that you could find and post would be really helpful!
