What is the contest?

And I'm surprised not to se Aspartame on the forbidden list.

The contest is an informal event to encourage Blue Star folks in this area to cook yummy, magically-charged meals for Geo, Cat, Liam and one guest so that Turtle Hill is able to focus on helping Geo get through treatment and get well without worrying about cooking every day for dinner. Geo is Turtle Hill's cook, so while he is recovering, new plans must be made to get everyone fed at dinner time.

A contest will make this more fun for everyone. I will make evaluation forms for cat, Geo and Liam and ask them to fill them out briefly (circling numbers, easy stuff) after each meal. The winner gets taken to dinner at the best restaurant around these parts. This way, everyone enjoys the effort and has fun with it.

I will check with Cat about aspartame.

Is he unwell?

Geo is ill and about to undergo extensive treatment. In the meantime, we are pulling together our resources and combining forces to make his recovery easier on him and his household. this is one fun way to do that.

Yup, I knew I was dreading this bit! 'Tis a challenge, it is!

It IS a challenge! One way around this might be to make 2 dishes for your night's meals: one with with, say tomatos (which Liam cannot eat) and one without. That might make it a little easier, or it might simply double your effort. We can talk today when I call.

Darlin, I'm changing your letter. I'll call with the new one later.

You have tomatoes and peppers on the forbidden list. This suggests to me that nightshades are not good for G. Should you include eggplant and potatoes on the list as well as the others in the nightshade family?

Tomatos and peppers are also acidic. Potatos and eggplant are not necessarily. Could be a different reason than nighshade.

I don't know if the acidity is the reason, but it might be. I will check with Liam.

Actually, a lot of that list is because other members of the household can't eat those things, and it would be silly not to cook for all household members. I happen to know Geo himself loves tomatoes.

The first 2/3 of the list are items that could potentially make Liam ill. he is on a special diet. But nightshades as a class are OK---only the items mentioned are trigger foods for him. : )

I have a pound of blueberries in my refrigerator. I will eat them all, thus saving George from their vile temptations.

See? I'm helping. :-)

Fresh blueberries and cherries are evil! I must do my part to protect others from this threat .

But aside from that...

Thank you for the Forbidden list. Is there a corresponding list of foods or flavors that George likes?

This is brilliant! I will ask him today.

Hee hee! Actually, you would be saving Liam. But boy, am I thinking about blueberries now...
