Divination
Jul. 5th, 2005 12:10 pmScorpio Horoscope for week of June 30, 2005
Introducing Adrienne Rich at a poetry reading in San Francisco in 2004, Frances Phillips turned to her and said, "Thank you for your lovely, irreverent, unsettled, curious mind." It was a fitting tribute to a poet who for 50 years has stirred up good trouble with her rowdy yet disciplined work. By the end of this week, Scorpio, I would like to feel justified in saying the same thing to you: "Thank you for your lovely, irreverent, unsettled, curious mind." Now get out there and pull off the most healing mischief you can imagine.
The card accompanying this horoscope is labeled "Total Committment" and the image looks like I feel when I call the quarters, the gods, or make love.

Date: 2005-07-05 07:47 pm (UTC)I think I'd get more out of his readings if I had this deck to work with. I "speak" astrology in the most basic sense, but I speak Tarot fluently, and I think this predisposes me towards other kinds of card-based divinatory systems, too. Since I'm looking to divination primarily to assist me in moving towards transformation in my life, drawing on the deck he uses in conjunction with his astrological interpretations makes alot of sense for me.

Date: 2005-07-05 08:58 pm (UTC)I don't know if you'll find the Vertical Oracle in any bookstores (I haven't seen it anywhere yet), but you can get it at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0965734102/qid=1120596899/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-9125973-6247812?v=glance&s=books. The cost has gone up since I got my copy, I think. The homesite for the oracle is here: http://www.verticalpool.com/oracle.html.
I thought that my familiarity with Tarot would help me with the Vertical Oracle, too, but only insofar as I had developed some of the basic, intuitive skills of a diviner. The Vertical Oracle does NOT play by the same rules as the Tarot. At all. Ever. It's a remarkable tool, and I'm still uncovering new subtleties within it.
