This morning's gift: a long email from one of my precon participants telling me how the workshop helped him shape a beautiful festival experience, with multiple examples of what he did to make it better. I love his successes, and really enjoy knowing how I helped. This festival offered wonderful opportunities to experience such delicious pleasures.

I'm going to slowly let it all sink in...

Wonderful! Do you think he might let you excerpt some of it as testimonial for website use? Maybe even for the event overall?

I hadn't thought about it, but I can ask...he might be open to this.

Well, at least two of your participants showed up to my Rage, Fear and Survival class and I ended up teaching something very different from what I planned. It is part of what I am thinking deeply about now.

I appreciate it, smith_e. Thank you for taking my people under your wing and helping them to get what they needed from you. Once I work with someone closely, I think of them as mine, and I want what is mine to flourish, grow and blossom in every way possible.

Thank you.

I will admit to feeling intimidated but it worked out. Eve claims that it was the class I was meant to teach. :)

Perhaps this was the gift they gave you...

Ah, but a gift requires a gift in heathenry. Was my running the class my gift in return?

I'm a little confused about what you mean...but I mean that they allowed you to reach farther than you normally would have and teach the class you were meant to teach, while you helped them get the class they really needed. It seems like a good exchange to me.

Ah, that answers my question.

As to what I meant, here is one link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/paganism/subdivisions/heathenry_1.shtml

This being the text I was thinking of:

A related concept is the giving of gifts, though both gift-giving and hospitality are bounded by reciprocity, a principle that Heathens consider important.
