My favorite ballet was 'The Firebird'. The capture of the Firebird was hardest for me as a male dancer. I was to show how hard it was to hold her down yet still make it look like there was no energy needed for the lift. I had a great partner in that she captured her role and made me feel like I was catching a great bird.

When I was... 8? our class went to a production of The Firebird. I was entranced. I can still see the Firebird flitting about that stage.
