I've got internet access for long enough to write a post.

The last time I was able to write, I was trying to explain something about Uluru. Really, I think I was trying to think about it through my fingers. That day was really important in ways that are hard to explain. I was at the site from 9:30 ish until the express picked me up at 5, and it still felt as though I didn't have enough time.

About two-thirds of the way through the walk I just relaxed into it. I stopped thinking so much with my loud brain and started being ion the moment with the place. At that point, I had stripped doen to my sports bra and rolled up my pants. I slung my water over my shoulder with everything else and just began moving forward without thinking---just experiencing. I had eaten at least two bush plums before I even noticed what was happening; I had quietly slipped into the groove of the place in a seemless way.

All day the sky was overcast and the wind blew hard. It was just the kind of day you pray for in Central America hwne you have to gid in the sun. Perfect weather.

I saw seven other people on the base walk, and none of them were looking, listening, tasting feeling as far as I could tell. They looked they were either tired and weary or marching. It made no sense---why would you march around this ancient place? Why not stop, listen, look? I didn't understand it.

I got to the second water hole and just sat, watching and waiting for the rain to come. Only 2% of peopel who visit see it in the rain. What an amazing gift! Three peopel came in on the short walk to the water hole from a nearby parking lot. They stood and marvelled for a few minutes. One guy said,"It looks like it might rain. If we stay, we could see the rivulets run down the rock." "That's my plan," I answered from the bench behind him.

They laughed, but they left.

They missed it. Gods, it wqas beautiful. In the rain, the surface changed. I will remember it forever.

I revisited the caves with paintings tyhen, too. They popped so brightly in the moisture! I took pictures wityh my iPhone. Maybe they will come out.

I didn't want to leave, but I had to return to the place where the bus was picking me up, a half hour away. I hope, I dearly hope, that I can go back.

Celebrate that you've done this on your own. You're a resourceful, strong woman when you allow yourself to be!!!!!! I remember being proud of myself navigating Germany and Holland on my own, to include hosteling and recruiting rides and kink events from strangers on websites. You can do this and it'll be an experience you will never forget.
