Shifting instructions
Feb. 5th, 2011 11:05 amOne of the many people currently helping me grow pointed me to a set of brilliant blog posts (thank you, honey).
If you're wondering how to shift your life in some significant way, and it feels *way* beyond your reach, please consider reading them. Even if you're simply aware of a gap between where you are now and where you want be, these posts are well worth exploring.
I love the way this guy pulls the fangs of potentially off-putting New Age language, breaking down his terms and explaining exactly what he means with clear examples and simple words.
I also love his list of 22 action steps near the end of the second post. I looked at these and said, "Damn, I do almost all of these things, many of them on a daily basis...oh yeah, that's why the universe sends me what I need and want so easily. 1-4 are my absolute favorites! OK, this guy has really laid out the process so people can see."
It's kind of eerie, how closely this man's descriptions map to my understanding of the world and how to move in it. He even articulates the idea that people are antennas, which is an important, deeply held belief I've had for years, but have only really spoken aloud in the last twelve months or so.

Wanna shift? Go here and let this guy explain exactly how he does it. Stick out the first post and get to the second: it's even more useful than the first.

EDIT: There's another, really, really important thing: it takes time to adjust your vibe and/or learn new things, so as you are learning, you'll need to be very patient with yourself.
I know that I need to see something and/or do it three or four times, at least, before I've really started to get it down. When learning (or teaching) something new, offering patience and engaging in repetition is really, really important.
Give yourself the time you need to absorb new patterns of being. When you get frustrated, remember that you *will* learn the new vibe/pattern, and put down the stick you're using to beat yourself up.

At this moment...
Date: 2011-02-05 04:44 pm (UTC)I can picture myself working 80 hour weeks, doing field defining work as a subject matter expert, getting the Ph.D. I should have already, and running marathons again. These are goals I have already achieved (with the exception of the Ph. D. that was canceled do to the fact that I got mono my frosh year of college.) They are not unrealistic or out of sync with who I have the potential to be. These things are who I was supposed to be.
But, nothing I do, think, or visualize can change the fact that there are at least 3 if not more, really nasty concurrent infections eating my body and my brain.
No goal setting, processing, talking, etc changes anything. It is what it is, and what it is sucks.
So, my current goals are an insult to that person: fry the egg for breakfast and wash the frying pan, do one load of laundry and put it away, drive to the pharmacy and spend hundreds of dollars on meds and drive back with out getting lost between here and there.
I'm sure it's not fair to write this here. To rain on your joyous blog. But, I don't think I want to apologize. I want to state, for the record, "Sometimes life just sucks!"

Date: 2011-02-05 08:02 pm (UTC)When he discovered the wild world of poly and BDSM, I was entertained but mostly took a break. Reading his posts around then was like listening to your dorky friend who just got their first spanking and now wants to tell you all about everything they're an expert on from reading Screw the Roses. Like, I'll come back when you've gotten all this crushing on new lifestyles out of your system...
So yeah, glad to see some more good butt-kicking posts again.

Date: 2011-02-07 01:42 pm (UTC)I think there are a couple of mid-steps he misses, though. You have to visualize yourself in the *process*, not in the *result*. For instance, visualizing a mansion may help manifest a mansion, but you'll quickly lose it. To realign your "vibe" you have to imagine doing the things one does to buy a mansion, and doing the maintenance. The earning goal is a better example.
Humility is critical. I've failed to learn so many lessons because I thought I was smart/wise!
Excellent point about analyzing the circumstances, including the relationships, you are currently in, and how they resonate with that vibe. There's nothing wrong with developing new circles of friends (especially if you find you're changing and don't share interests anymore).
"Giving your power away" could be a topic for an essay on its own. I'd say, "Own your power." Cat would say, "If you argue for your limitations, sure enough, they're yours."
One other part he skips: figuring out what the heck it is you want, anyway. I have a few exercises on that, but a lot of people get stuck here, frequently including me.
