Just finished Skyping with [livejournal.com profile] showingup and T. across the pond. Gods, I wish there was a way to materialize there, stay for awhile, and hop right back. I remember how much I enjoyed being in England around Easter during my last trip there. I loved the way it felt to walk around London, and it was cool to see so many beautiful, elaborate chocolate eggs. I'd like to explore Macclesfield and Manchester with [livejournal.com profile] showingup someday and check out the local places that never make it into guide books.

It's been too long since I've traveled. [livejournal.com profile] justusgirlz kindly helped me select tickets to Australia a few weeks ago. I'm flying into Melbourne on the 19th of February and coming home on the 7th of March.

I have no idea what I'll be doing there after the conference. I guess I'll find out.

May I live long enough to see the emergence of light speed cross-continental travel. You never know. Many of the things we use/experience everyday could hardly have been conceived of a century ago.

England is a wonderful, wonderful place. Just for instance, in June when the roses are in bloom.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Take a side trip to Cairns and see the great barrier reef before it dies. Seriously.

Or spend a few days in the outback. There are tour companies that can take you.

Or go rafting on the Tully River. It's one of the most exillarating things I've ever done and I've done a lot of exhillarating things.

Or go tandem sky diving over the reef and land on a beach.

Or go to Sydney and climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge. And definitely get a backstage tour of the opera house.

OOOOO! And go look at as many opals as possible. Dude, I would pay you for a rock with a wee bit of boulder opal shining through it.

Or just fucking take me with you. (But I couldn't go anyway. I'm buried up past my neck in school.)

Geez. I dissappear from lj for a few months and suddenly you're going to Australia. SOOOOOOOO jealous. Want to get back there sooooooooo bad.
