Listening to Matisyahu this morning---I love to run to him, so passionate and powerful, and so full of good things for me. There's amazing overlap between his experience of his God and my experience of the divine, or maybe it's just about the passionate approach we both take to them.

Maybe it's the intensely physical/emotional relationship to spirit we share...yeah, that's it. "Warrior" and "King Without a Crown" spear me right through the heart.

You're a priest and a prince and you can't be moved
You're a priest and a prince and you can't be moved
You're a warrior, fighting for your soul
Taking from the world above, and brought down to this world below
Warrior

What's this feeling? My love will rip a skylight in the ceiling
Giving myself to you now from the essence of my being
And I sing to my god, songs of love and healing
I want Moshiach now, time we start revealing
King Without A Crown

I'd love to see him live.

Yep. That is what it feels like when I open to Spirit. I need to find this Matisyahu you speak of.

The album I listen to is called "Live at Stubbs". Other really good songs: "Chop 'Em Down," and "Beat Box," although I like the whole album.

He is very Judaic, and I have no problem dancing across paradigms and picking out what sings to me most, but be warned: you may not identify with all of his perspectives or like all of his metaphors.

Find him on YouTube and listen to "King Without A Crown". The lyrics are delicious and expressive, but his voice----the emotion he conveys---is unbelievable.

Listen!

Hmmmm, he is very fast. I can see this might be good for workouts, but I am challenged to catch the words and the lyrics. I may be better suited for reading his work ;)

Never heard of this guy, he's fantastic. I suspect Tim would really like him. I'm not much of a hip hop fan but his lyrics are inspiring!

Never heard of him, so I looked him up. Which led to looking up Reconstructionist Judaism and then onto religious naturalism. And I thought, "Essay fodder!"

Must be on the upswing :)

How could it be that I haven't shared him with you? Is that possible?

I've seen him live!
And, he's fabulous. And a wonderful study in contradiction and passion.

That's what's so great about him: he is very passionate *and* he pulls/brings together so many contradictions. I love the way he embodies such disparate cultures, ideas and feelings.

Juicy, deep and full of exciting bits to explore...

Crazy. I just pulled him out of the ol' iTunes library myself, recently - something was calling to me.

Saw him live once a couple of years ago - good show!
