For
mage_imbroglio's birthday,
vgnwtch and her wonderful husband T. sent us the first season of the British series, "Being Human". The story centers on a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living together in Bristol. It follows them as they grapple with the meaning of their own existence and slowly forge a strong friendship on which each of them must depend.
It's funny, gripping and dramatic. I like it because it takes the position that there is no escape, and dying is no excuse: it's still just one *!@* opportunity for growth after another.
Oh, and you can grow in wisdom and become empowered even after you are dead. Plus, there's a saucy, smart and resilient health care worker (a nurse) who shows up later in the series, and the werewolf and the vampire work as orderlies in a hospital. It brings together many of my interests very nicely.
There is a Wikipedia entry for the series, but I can't seem to link to it. You can probably find it if you want to know more.
Here's a link to one of the short "prequels" to the series, the one introducing Mitchell, the vampire:

Demons, on the other hand, is worthless trash. Don't bother. People comparing it to Buffy are on some kind of crack, it's like a bad joke attempt at being like Buffy. Frankly, it's much more like Hex was in terms of quality, which is to say, basically shit.
