I found a new tool for pushing my own growth and working with advanced students.

It called *lojong*

I will bring it to the FG.

It's *immensely* useful. I think dragonlfycai and ingridsummers will especially like it, and I think Eileen (Skyfyre? spelling?) may also like it---or at least find it useful---as well.

I may be overwhelmed but as usual, I'm thinking about growing and how to encourage/teach/support the growth of others whenever I get a free brain cell. Soon, I will find a way to make a good living by doing this!

Then i look forward to hearing about it. :) Lojong, eh?

Today i finally figured out that FG means what i think it means. And it's in Michigan? That may not be all that far. How can i find out more information?

This year it's in Nelson, WI. About 2 - 2 1/2 hours from the Twin Cities on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi river. RavenStar is hosting this year's bash, and [livejournal.com profile] gwisteria is in charge of organizing said bash.

Oh, yes, FG is family gathering. It's in Minnesota. Can you email me your phone # (or I might have it, I'll check; my brain's a sieve) and I'll call you later today?

Oh, thanks so much for the info, willowoak! I didn't even know it was in Wisconsin.

Lojong?

Okay, now I'm curious....

Actually, I'm curious about a lot, but from reading your journal I see how busy you are and am doing my best to behave and not inundate you with questions and comments and stuff.... For now.... But once you get your dissertation finished, I'll be looking for a full explaination on what lojong is (along with a lot of other questions/answers).

Hugs and stay sane!

I *am* thinking of you, Eileen, as well as Galen and Cai, Maggie and Patrick, and the DC group. I always have a little person in the back of my head that looks at everything interesting I encounter and asks, "Would this be helpful for Galen? Would this be helpful for Eileen or Cai? What about Maggie and Patrick? Who in DC might resonate with this?"

Even though I am feverishly working on packets and dissertation revisions, part of mind is always with my students or anyone I have started to work with in relationship to Craft or personal growth issues. I think this happens because in a perfect world, I'd be a full time teacher, doing nothing but teaching, coaching, mentoring, speaking and writing (OK, probably not the dissertation).

So it's not an effort; it's fun. I can't wait to work with you on an ongoing basis, and I appreciate your patience right now very, very much.

Always glad to be of service. As I understand it, it's really RIGHT on the river (there's been mention of a beach) and Nelson is located across from Wabasha, MN. Barely in Wisconsin.

Thanks. I even gave a good thought to going--which was a lot of fun!--but i'd need a little more time to get ready for an 860 mi road trip! lol ... For some reason, i had thought FG was scheduled for Sept and had filed it under "not possible this time."

ah well. "Each moment is perfect exactly as it is." And i'm sure this one is too. :)

Warm thoughts to the whole Family. *hugz*

i googled a bit, and i think this is interesting, particularly the Tonglen idea. i like to think of providence or good stuff as a flow, and that by holding on to what you have, you dam that flow, and prevent yourself from enjoying more of that flow of giving and receiving. admittedly, at first, the idea of breathing in bad and breathing out good is somewhat disconcerting, but i've been working on how, if we are all emanations of one creative principle (which is what i'm going with, for a while now) then obviously i can deal with a little bad. heck, if i relax enough i can accept all evil without ill effect. i'm not very good at that relaxing part yet.

okay, lemme phrase that again, possibly clearer.

i am god. therefore, i am a fount of pure goodness and energy without limits, capable of absorbing any amount of evil with no ill effects.
