I've really enjoyed Yule this year.
When I arrived at the beach on Friday night for Clover's Yule, all the mess and muss of the week faded away. Spending time with my coven decorating, ritualing and eating was just lovely.
Rituals
I enjoyed Priestessing the ritual so much! After a rough week and a difficult day, I thought it would be hard to focus, but the minute I stepped into circle and took my friends' hands, I felt so comfortable---so happy. The circle was good, really good (for me, at least), and I think I was able to do so well because I felt so comfortable and happy to be there, standing in the West with so many people I love.
Even little A. held my hand during part of the ritual, which was just so lovely. And working with M. was beautiful. I love my group, and I could really feel it on Friday night.
Saturday night was another gorgeous ritual experience: tremendously nurturing, calm, supportive and magical. Inner Court circles at Turtle Hill have become the perfect complement to the rest of my spiritual life. When I am there, I am restored. I grow. It feels like a place I need and want to be.
Afterwards our small group had a wonderful feast, just as wonderful---although totally different---as Friday night's post-ritual feast.
And then there was Sunday morning with catpaw67, watching a great movie and rowing.
Happy sigh.
Fondue
Together with skyefyr, I have recently discovered fondue. It is SO COOL! I already love the mysteries of the crock pot, but now I've discovered how easy and fun it is to create and enjoy fondue. Happily, both Clover and the Inner Court shared my joy. Nobody laughed at our ancient but venerable fondue pot, (bright 70s orange) at all. Everyone enjoyed poking their fruit and bread laden spears into the cheese mix and popping it into their mouths. Mmmmm good!
I have to thank the lovely sligoe for this discovery: it is by her graciousness that I was able to create these yummy fondues for both of my circles. Thank you, lovely! And thanks to skyefyr for the inspiration---I foresee lots of fondu in my future. I will simply modify the recipes to make them healthier.
Happiness.

Sounds like it was a wonderful time!

Date: 2007-12-24 01:27 pm (UTC)1 cup dry Sauterne wine
i clove garlic
1 lb cheese, grated: i mix and match: Cheddar, Havarti, Swiss, Jack, whatever I have
Crusty French bread, cut into cubes
1 apple and 1 pear, cut into small chunks
2 tsps. cornstarch
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
dash nutmeg
1 tsp dry mustard
salt to taste
Pour the wine into the fondue pot. Put on stove and turn on low heat. Crush clove and toss into the wine. Heat until bubbles begin to rise, but do not boil. Fish out clove and discard. Toss grated cheese with cornstarch and add to hot wine a handful at a time, cooking over low heat until cheese is melted and smooth, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Add other seasonings and salt to taste. Light burner (mine use Sterno) set pot on unit, spear bread and fruit with fondu fork and dip away.
Modify as you like and enjoy!
