Jun. 12th, 2006 07:56 amThis morning, I am thinking about how lovely my personal life is...
As always, M., my love, is kind, funny and passionate. T., sweet boy, is lovely, smart and a delight as well. This part of my life is ever glorious, and I wake up smiling every morning to have found such joy.
[This morning's momentary joke of the moment, an exchange between T.--watching a super hero video---and M.: "He puts on his clothes, gets into his car and becomes a superhero---'Undertaker Man'!". And there is much silly, pleasurable laughter, along with the wearing of stuffed turtles on the head. And residual giggling.]
M. has bought us a house, and it is a cute duplex that sits pertly at the end of verdant suburban dead end street, next to a big public park with a baseball diamond. The town is lush and pleasant, with a good school system and a sweet downtown area.
"Our house is a very very very fine house..."
It has a large back yard with tall wooden privacy fencing and tall bushes wrapped through with blossoming honeysuckle. There is a beautiful tree is the back yard, and one in the front. Lots of room for a garden next year, and lots of room for historic roses and flowers. Most importantly, there is lots of room for M. and I to chase T. around, tickle him and collapse in heaps of giggles.
It is a duplex, and T.'s momma and her honey have one side and I, T. and my honey have the other. Although M. and T.'s mother are no longer together, we have a remarkable harmony amongst us as a group, collaborating in T.'s care, loving him, having dinners as a group and working togethor on mutually benefitial projects. T.'s bedroom will be on our side and his playroom will be on theirs.
We are renovating our spaces.
M and I have picked paint colors and floor laminate (light bamboo)and we spent large parts of the weekend spackling, sanding and painting, with the help of the lovely S., our friend and my roommate.
We picked sage for the dining room and will accent it with eggplant, and we have a lovely burnt sienna for the bedroom, light sky blue for T.'s room and lighter sage for the kitchen and entry way.
The basement is finished but needs some serious work, which will happen later in the week. When it is done, we will have a gym/office and a TV room downstairs.
The last time I did this---in my previous life---there was always meaness, pushing around and it was something of a horror of an experience. I nicknamed my partner of that time "Home Despot" because he was so angry and pushy all the time. This time, it is totally different. Even though we have similar time pressures and a serious deadline, there is no anger and no meanness between us. We work together, and M. shows me what to do and supports me as I get faster and better at it.
T plays about while we cut in the edges and listen to music, and there are frequent breaks to pause, laugh, look over our progress and sit on the steps outside. It is good. I am happy with my honeys.
Life is so beautiful in so many ways!
