A totally new thing

I'm learning to SCUBA so that I can enjoy underwater life and explore shipwrecks. Michael is taking classes with me as my dive buddy. I've been wanting to do this for about 10 years, but I kept saying,"next year". This summer, elphaba_of_oz has given me a good reason to say "now"! The universe also provided me with a local Wednesday night class nearby that will allow me to certify in a timely manner.

So, I am planning a future that includes SCUBA diving with Michael, elphaba, Michael's dad and elphaba's honey. My first contained dive is tonight. I am so excited!

New things are unfolding and unfolding...wow! I am wondering...do any of my friends, other than elphaba, dive?

I did a couple of intro classes at college, which were a blast, before my health failed again. It was a great deal of fun. I was too bouyant, and had to keep having lead weights added to me to keep me at the right level of bouyancy. There's a SCUBA training place literally just up the road, but I don't think we can afford it just yet. Maybe one day :)

Oh, you will have such a fantastic time with SCUBA. I have many suggestions of where you should go diving. I was never certified, but have often dived with instructors. Kuaii is fantastic. I've never been, but a bunch of my coworkers have....
One of my paths toward healing self is playing more. Looks like you're getting that down!

You will really love it when you get to some of the more interesting places. When I was stationed in Bermuda I did a lot of snorkeling in their clear water. A couple times I used tanks but never deeper than 10 or 20 feet. But the beauty down there.

You lucky thing! When my divorce is over I plan on taking SCUBA lessons and certifying in Maui, in the meantime, it's been snorkeling for me - however, for my 39th this summer I am going to throw myself out of a perfectly good airplane . . .

Have fun - someday we'll have to plan an underwater adventure together!

Class 1 was really hard---I didn't have the right equipment and I was nervous. Class 2 was a blast!

My son, his father and his father's wife all SCUBA----my son has managed to turn this into a career as an underwater archaeologist. I haven't been able to get the nerve to do this yet---not really high on my priority list, but it's there somewhere.

When my son was very young, he would tell me he wanted to go "scubin divin" like his daddy. He's taken it farther than any of us ever dreamed...and he loves it. He's working with the Coast Guard and looking at the shipwrecks off the East Coast---he was on PBS recently, explaining aboutthe damabge caused by all of those hurricanes last year. Mom is suitably proud!

Maybe I can get him to send me some underwater pictures----he has some really cool ones taken in the Keys, Jeff happily swimming with the fishes!

We were blown out. The captain took us out every morning and ended up turning around along with all of the other dive boats.
