Birth of the Heartland Ritual Tribe
Jun. 2nd, 2010 06:30 pmOne of the experiences that struck me most deeply at Heartland was living through the coalescence of the Heartland Ritual Tribe. When I arrived on Wednesday night, we were a group of individuals, each with our own specialty. A few of us knew each other, either deeply or in passing, but our individual connections were strictly personal in nature. When I left, we were a Tribe who felt, thought, and acted together in our mission to better connect the Heartland community to the Divine.

I keep experiencing this kind of group birth over and over this year. I feel like one of a gaggle of laboring women, all pushing and panting together in short, sharp breaths as we push our babies out. And I feel like one of the infants, crying and covered in blood, pulling my way out of the womb.
