Family Runners
Nov. 26th, 2009 09:15 amLast weekend Michael, Trent and I all did the big Philadelphia run. Our friend David joined us.
Michael ran the marathon, David ran the half marathon and Trent and I ran the 8K.
Each of us finished, but ended up a little bit gimpy.
David turned an ankle at mile 3 and kept going for 10 more miles; Michael's right leg seized at mile 20 and he plowed on through for 6.6 more miles. Trent and I trotted/walked for five miles with little foot ouchies at the end.
Trent continuously taunted me for being so slow during the first half, but then got a cramp during the second half so we slowed down to a walk. Justice! I didn't taunt him on the way back, but I did think about it. We talked to each other the whole way---no, actually, we laughed with/at each other the whole way there and back. It's hard to run when you're cracking up. It was fun to crack up the other runners, though.
We even found another mother-son pair to run with during part of the time.
Michael and David were very brave---they persisted through pain and did not give up!
Yay for our triumph! Here are pictures:
