Buffy: "I don't know. I love being around Riley, I think he cares about me, but...I still feel like something's missing..."
Willow: "He's not making you miserable?"
Buffy: "Exactly!"

What a great kind of problem to have. A non-problem: the experience of learning to welcome joy.
EDIT: And I just went outside and saw the lovely Shannon walking in from work, all smiling and happy, and my heart just went into the sweetest burst of warm happiness. My life is good, and is filled with good people. I am so lucky!

I've seen soooo many people who have this same sentiment, because being miserable is the state that they are used to being in, and not being miserable is just UNKNOWN and SCARY to them, let alone adding in the concept of a radical change in the emotional tone of their life...
You seem to be doing well in your transition from miserable to happy, and I congratulate you on that!
Hugs,
