What would this world be like if all of our people believed that London, New York, Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Ottawa and Tokyo were friendly places, and that their inhabitants were their next door neighbors, eager to lend a cup of sugar (or whatever else was needed) whenever we could be of help? Answer: We wouldn't get bombed, and tourism would be better.
These are world class cities (except maybe Ottawa, and you can go to Toronto or Montreal in Canada) and every citizen of the world should feel as though they are citizens of these cities by birthright. When we accomplish this, bombings will cease. And we can do this. If we want to maintain our safety, we should do this. If we want to prove our greatness, we will do this.
I hear you, my friend. Was scrambling frantically this morning checking that colleagues and loved ones in London are ok. Last I heard, a dear friend's best friend is still missing :-(

It's a big world, and we can be that big.
