sabrinamariThe last four days have been unbelievably rough on Michael. He's gotten death call after death call, worked on a service for the parent of a dear and respected friend and responded to a variety of ridiculous, random work demands from multiple funeral homes. I think last night was the first decent sleep he's gotten in four days.
Yesterday afternoon he reached his limit, and my calm and happy honey found himself in a very grumpy place. When this happens---and it's rare---the only thing that helps is sleep and play. As long as I'm calm, quiet and gently responsive, it's usually OK. This morning, though, the work demands continued and his mood got steadily worse. I've spent the day hoping he'd find a way to get some real joy and renewal. At last, he's out the door to run with a friend he rarely gets to see in this gorgeous October sun. May he have more fun than humanly possible, and come home satisfied, to a clean and sparkling house!
And about that---now I'm freed to push hard on the absolute wreck that is our place: three floors of tumult and jumble, fresh from visiting in-laws, too many weekends of travel, transferred phones and the absolute chaos of two crazed and overworked adults.
I wonder how much cleaning I can get done in the next two hours? I'm gonna play cheesy 80s music really loud and hit this place hard until it's gorgeous and inviting, so he'll be happily surprised when he gets home. Woo-hoo---and the game begins!
