Thinking with fingers
Jun. 8th, 2011 11:02 pmIt's a quiet night with plenty of time to think. I should be asleep, especially since I've determined that my number one problem to solve right now is how to get myself in bed and asleep by 10:30, so I can get up by 6:00, work out, and access most of my brain cells during the day.
Thus, I should be asleep. But no such luck. Maybe in a few minutes.
Tonight I've been laughing at myself, which is a pretty reliable pastime. I often feel like Po, the ridiculous but kind-hearted protagonist of Kung Fu Panda, who is forever doing the most awkward thing possible. Right now I'm thinking that when I ordered this life, I must have said something like, "Whatever you do, don't make it boring. I'll take a little bit of everything, but make sure I'm not bored."
And no, I'm not bored.
Next week a new friend is coming to visit for two days. I met her at Beltane, where she and I hit it off. She attempted to teach me some belly dance moves (again, think Po here---not so successful) but she was very patient and it turned out alright. At one point she tactfully complimented me on doing the *exact opposite* of the move she was trying so hard to teach me. "Usually, that's very difficult for people to learn," she said helpfully. I just grinned and shook my head. I'm used to it, and it's funny.
Anyway, once we sat down to talk we discovered that she needs to write a book and I could use a little help healing some second chakra issues. Fortunately, I know how to write a book and I can teach people to do it. She knows how to do a specialized kind of massage that repositions internal organs. Excellent! A reciprocal arrangement has been born.
During our first phone conversation, I gave her a homework assignment (of course). The great thing is that she gave me one right back. This is a good sign, a sign that we are each prepared to help the other push past some barriers. I am very interested to see what each of us can teach and learn.
I will be doing my homework over the next couple of days and she has already finished hers. All I have to do now is survive the submission of the grant at work, pack and prepare for FSG, and get ready for the many RoPs that I will be doing between now and the week post-festival.
Next year there will be no Sabrina Mari-led RoPs at FSG. I just want to let you know this now, my dear bunnies, so you don't get upset when festival rolls around in June of 2012 and I say no to all elevation requests.
In the meantime, I am getting ready to run a book-writing workshop for one and have my uterus moved around. "How is that going to work?" asked Michael, when I told him about it. "I have no idea," I said. The conversation pretty much went downhill from there, and by its end, we were both laughing so hard and speculating so wildly that we could barely stay upright. Think Po, here.
I am very curious to see what happens next.
