"The faculty voted yesterday to make an offer to another candidate. I would like to personally thank you for your willingness to come out here and meet all of us and to undergo the ordeal of interviewing. While I know this message is disappointing, I want you to know that both you and your work were very much respected by the students and faculty who met you. I look forward to interacting with you in the future as a colleague.
I wish you the very best of luck. Please keep in touch."

While I am disappointed, this is probably for the best.

I am disappointed for you and yet, selfishly, delighted that you will hopefully be staying in NJ longer. I know that things will work out for the best, no matter what.

I'm sorry that you didn't get the job. Hopefully it means that a better one is just around the corner.

There is an old saying that when God closes a door, s/he opens a window. Wait for the light and fresh air from the open window---it will show itself to you at just the right time!

Blessings and lots of hugs!

Next!

You weren't supposed to have that job. Now you'll be available when the job you ARE supposed to have comes along.

I agree with everyone else's comments. My own 5 cents is that you gained useful experience, you impressed the people you met, and you made good contacts with other professionals in your field who may remember you and your work in the future. And you got a (mostly free?) trip to Tucson out of it. Not bad at all! :-D

The cards said your best options for now were around here, so I'm not too surprised.

Congratulations, Sabrina, you don't have to agonize over whether to move to a place where you don't want to live! Woo hoo!
