In his 5/13/08 episode, NCN guy speaks of his tendency to spend money on gadgets, and his recent reflections on this habit. Every day, he says, he has been questioning his urge to spend money on things that will provide him with immediate gratification rather than real long-term benefits:
"[When I choose this,] am I honoring the money I have been blessed to make and to have? I think part of that is having a vision for the future, of what this money could do in the long run: not just for me and my family and my children's children, but for my community, my church and the people [whom] I love and I care about.
So for me, I've determined that the future is worth more than the thing I could have in the present. The flip side of that is that there are some people who are so future-minded that they never enjoy the present moment---and that's where balance comes into play...I think we ought to be balanced, balanced as human beings."
