I skeptically bought this as an MP3 download. It has the unfortunate title of "Skinnysongs".

Ignore this title. It's FRICKING brilliant! OK, more brilliant if you are a woman in your 30s or 40s who is also a bit of a geek and likes super heroes.

Ignore the song titles; they aren't great. The sample excerpts are so-so; they leave out the best parts and on "The Incredible Shrinking Woman," drop critically important contexts (the subtext is X-Men, not anorexia). The whole songs are brilliant and very, very tongue-in-cheek. Especially check out, 'You Da Boss".

The first time you try to work out to this, your laughter will slow down your workout. But damn, these are funny and very motivating.

So you motivated me to do a Pilates tape--just the baby version--and I feel pretty good. I don't want to be ripped or run a marathon, but I would like it if I ached less. I have a LOT of trouble getting motivated, and humor helps, so I've downloaded the songs. I'm not sure it's a workout, but I can listen to these songs in the iPod while I'm walking the dog.

I am laughing at the irony of trying to balance fewer splurge purchases for better financial health with cool stuff to buy for improved financial & physical health. DH says we'll wait till next month to buy the "Furminator" for Buttercup.

The samples are hilarious in their own right - if the full songs are better, I have to consider this kind of music for my non-Polynesian workouts.
