Healing Weekend with Ariana Lightningstorm: Who is interested in joining me?

I have utterly failed at self care for the past few weeks, months, and maybe even year. Getting this train stopped and turned around is really, really hard, so I'm upping the ante. Cat has helped me get back on the exercise train, and Mythical Journeys helped me figure out what I need to change...but I need to schedule periodic outside reinforcers to keep me on target with my work.

So...Michael and I are scheduling a Healing Weekend here at our place in January. Our guest healer will be Ariana Lightningstorm, of Free Spirit Gathering and Kiva fame. Ariana works in various modalities. She is:

* a wonderful massage therapist
* a gentle and caring Rebirthing/breathwork specialist
* an energetic healer who offers Reiki, Quantum Touch and other energetic modalities
* She also practices and teaches palmistry and Tarot.

For breathwork, Ariana has a sliding scale of $40-$75.
For massage, she charges $1 a minute, or $60/hour.

Ariana can arrive on a Thursday and will be available to do massage, breathwork and divinatory work on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are tentatively thinking that January 18th, 19th and 20th will work best for this.

Our place is small, but we can schedule individual sessions from Friday-Sunday. I think we'll host a class (on divination or perhaps energy work) Friday or Saturday night and ask attendees to contribute $3-5 each. Blue Star asks its initiates to learn about methods of divination other than Tarot; Ariana can offer some help in that regard because palmistry is her specialty. Maybe I can find a larger location/household willing to host that class.

I've scheduled breathwork and massage for the weekend. Who else would be interested in joining me in some part of this work? Who might be interested in hosting a class? What kind of class/classes are you most interested in experiencing?

Palmistry/Tarot?
Energy work/self healing/self care?
Something else?

NOTE: Elphaba in York, PA has offered her place, which can sleep 8 in beds and more with sleeping bags, as one possible location for all or part of the weekend. When you answer, please note if this would make the weekend MORE difficult for you or EASIER for you.

One possibility is that Ariana could work here Friday and we could head up to elphaba's Saturday morning.

Please comment on what would and would not work for you.

If there is enough interest, we can schedule multiple weekends.

Oh god oh god oh god oh god!!! I want to so bad!!!!! But there is dog and I don't think I can leave him.

My house is bigger than yours and I think it's a shorter drive for Ariana. Want to do it here? I'd send B away somewhere for the weekend. My place can sleeparound 8 people comfortably if they don't mind sharing beds and parking on the couch, even more with sleeping bags.

None of the NJ people would drive this far out of thier way, I suppose. (((((snif)))))

I'd love to see you and it would be so much fun to...a sort of mini-gathering focused on healing. We could sure use the room, and maybe some of the DC, Baltimore and Massachusetts folks could join us since there is more room.

It sounds lovely, but I think January will be out for me. I'll be at least 36 weeks along at this point, so I'm not planning anything at that point. But it does sound like a fabulous idea!

This sounds very promising. I've just put my vacation requests in for the week before (presenting in RI) so I'm not sure that they'll be automatically giving me time off on my usual weekend off (your weekend.) If my schedule comes back as open, I'd love to get in massage and breathwork, and the classes on divination and energy work certainly sound interesting! Keep me posted please.

Unless you were mostly interested in giving Ariana sole rights, I would be happy to come and offer rune divination and thread readings, as well as counseling sessions for people who may need an open ear and a warm heart to find healing.

Or that can be done at another time, as well.

I would love to attend, npo matter where it is. Of course, York is closer for me, but Scotch Plains isn't located in the underside of the world, so either options would work for me---I'd make it work. Let me know if I can help in any way.

If we can get space at a large enough place, I would love to have multiple "mini-tracks": you have a great deal to offer and our community has barely any time with you.

I also think it's valuabel for us as a community to build relationships with practitioners from outside of our trad. Too much insider work leaves out multiple possibilities for growth!

So yes, I's like to pursue this possibility.

My theoretical target keeps shifting, because the true answer hasn't changed at all: when there's enough money to move, having paid off all the personal debts. (The utilities can wait to get theirs, if necessary. Some personal debts paid already, some have begun to be paid. But things (car, teeth, etc.) keep breaking, and there's dealing with health issues, and there's stuff I need to function well in the current work reality (like SOME sort of cheap MP3 player, and heated gloves if I'm taking the train through the winter, which I hope to do).

So, the theoretical target at this point is January. I just am not going to make December. But it's entirely possible, depending on what happens with the teeth, that it could be February or March instead. :-/

But at least I have insurance again. Even dental. Not GOOD dental, but it's better than nothing.
