This morning Michael's iPhone slipped out of his hands and the glass front shattered. Panic ensued as he realized that he ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT FUNCTION without his cell phone.
Funeral directors receive death calls at all times of the day and night. They must have phones wherever they are in order to spring into action.
Right now, one family and two funeral homes are counting on Michael to be there at a moment's notice.
Without an emergency fund, this would have been a total disaster.
With our emergency fund, it was an upsetting inconvenience. Michael had to drop everything and go to the Apple store, then work considerable magic to get his hands on the only available iPhone 4 in the immediate area. Fortunately, he was able to do so.
This afternoon he was called in to do two-and-a-half days of work for a local funeral home, which will more than make up for the cost of the phone.
We are so grateful for this! Thank you, Universe.
But most of all, we are deeply grateful for the generous cash reserve that means we don't have to panic when something like this happens.
Please, please, please build up your cash reserves. Do it first, and do it now. The peace of mind it offers is worth the sacrifice it entails.
