I went to the Wicked Faire for the first time this weekend. Of course, I worked up to the last possible minute on Friday, writing, revising and recording podcasts (still need to post them), and stopped waaaay too late. That meant no planning, no clue about what to wear and no weekend prep at all. Just making my week's goals took all my focus and energy...
But, when we did arrive late on Friday night, it was the beginning of a wonderful time. I loved the great variety of people and interests represented, and finally got to see "Repo: The Genetic Opera". Giles was wonderful as the Repo Man.

In the end, I discovered Steampunk style---gorgeous, historical, creative and blessed with a complete lack of attitude. I was fascinated by the creativity of the Steampunk costumes I saw at the Faire. I'd like to learn more about about this movement and do some reading in the literary arm of the genre.

Unbelievably, in an act of sheer non-coincidence, I re-met
lunarbitch, an old friend of my brother's. She was really wonderful and it was a delight to see her again. We didn't figure out that we had met before until the last few hours of the last day of the Faire. I hope to interact with her more in the future.
I have concluded that Jeff Mach's Wicked Faire is a very, very good thing.
